When you think about it, cemeteries make sense

Your article in the March 8 issue of the News Transcript raised some interesting questions. Perhaps I can help you with one. That is your question regarding the new cemeteries now under construction on Route 79.

Why two cemeteries at this site on Route 79? All you have to do is look about. In close proximity to these cemeteries is a series of towers carrying high tension electricity.

Would you buy a house next to these towers? I don’t think so. Would it be prudent to put up schools in the shadow of these towers? Hardly. But there is a bit more involved.

The two cemeteries are also "smack dab" in the climb-out path of Marlboro Airport. Hardly a location for residential housing. As a school site, it’s not the place where you would want your children spending their school days.

So why the cemeteries? Well, the occupants will not be disturbed by low altitude aircraft.

The nearby high tension transmission lines will have no effect on the occupants of the cemeteries. Can you suggest a more practical use for this land? I don’t think so.
