New rail line would bring prolonged delays

Proposed Monmouth-Ocean-Middlesex (MOM) trains will not go from Lakewood to New York City but will terminate at Newark. Diesel-powered trains are not allowed in the rail tunnel.

A story in a recent issue of a local newspaper points out that with train delays, the time between Penn Station, Newark, and Penn Station, New York City, could be as much as 30 minutes.

To get to Trenton or Phila-delphia via a MOM line, a change of trains would be necessary at Newark — somewhat out of the way.
