New rail line would bring prolonged delays Proposed Monmouth-Ocean-Middlesex (MOM) trains will not go from Lakewood to New York City but will terminate at Newark. Diesel-powered trains are not allowed in the rail tunnel. A story in a recent issue of a local newspaper points out that with train delays, the time between Penn Station, Newark, and Penn Station, New York City, could be as much as 30 minutes.
