Aly Rice and Jayne Jeffreys

of the level 6 team from Arena Gymnastics, Princeton, competed at Henderson’s Gymnastics in Edison. Jeffreys, a student at Laura Donovan Elementary School, Freehold Township, came in third in the all-around. Jeffreys came in second on the floor and third on bars. Aly Rice came in second in the all-around, second on the bars and third on the vault. Both girls will be competing in the New Jersey sectionals later this month.

Old Bridge Parks and Recreation Department will conduct a wrestling camp for seventh- through 12th-graders, July 10 to 14 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

The commuter camp is directed by Joe Dougherty, wrestling coach at South Brunswick High School, and clinicians Ray Nunamaker, former coach at Nazareth High School in Pennsylvania, and Glen Pazinko, coach at East Brunswick High School.

The Sharks,

a 14-and-under roller hockey team won a division championship at GoodSports USA, Aberdeen. The team finished the regular season 7-3 and beat the Tigers 7-2 in the championship game. Tom Fisher of Hazlet led the attack with three goals.

Matt Calogera of Old Bridge netted two goals and Kyle Mazzei of Aberdeen and Kenny Molloy of Old Bridge rounded out the scoring with a goal a piece.

Also playing for the Sharks are: Michael Goldstein and James Scollo of Manalapan, Mike Albo of Marlboro, Anthony Apuzzo and Sean Karyczak, Vito Passalacqua and goalie Andrew Vento of Old Bridge.

Freehold’s Emily Santoro and Colts Neck’s Helina Manesis helped the Devlin Gymnastics A Team win the USAG-NJ Junior Olympic Team Championship held at Devlin’s in Wall. The Level A girls rolled up 184.175 points on their way to the team championship. Santoro, competing at Level 7, scored 37.35 in the all-around. Manesis had an all-around score of 34.875 at Level 10 for Devlin.

At the USAG-NJ Optional Team Championships, Morganville’s Vicky Lent scored a 33.55 in the Level 8 all-around competition in helping Devlin place seventh (175.50).

In the State Sectional competition for Levels 8-10 held at Balance Gymnastics, Mays Landing, Manesis qualified for the state championships when she won the Level 10 Junior B, ages 13-14 all-around title. She scored a 35.80. She finished first on the balance beam (9.2) and floor exercise (8.95) and was second on the bars (8.9) and vault (8.75). It took a 32.00 or better to qualify for state competition and Lent achieved that when she scored a 34.80 in placing fifth in the Level 8, 12-year-old division. Lent won the vault (8.9) and was second on the floor (9.175) and third on the uneven bars (9.075).

The Freehold Flash,

a girls U-13 team, defeated Sayreville, 2-0, in a Monmouth-Ocean Soccer Association National Division game. Sam Basile and Kaitlyn Norton scored the Flash goals. Sam Areman picked up the shut-out win in goal with help from defensive backs Jessica Androski, Nicole Packo, Arielle Galimidi and Paige Areman.

Also contributing to the MOSA win were: Shannon Ekdahl, Chris Arcoleo, Lizzie Alexander, Colleen Rackett, Megan Wilgucki, Gina Hernandez and Shannon Lallier.

Manalapan Pop Warner

Cheerleading and Tackle Football registration for boys and girls, ages 7-15, and Flag Football, ages, 5-6, will be held on Saturday and again on April 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Kuschick Pavilion at the Manalapan Recreation Center, Route 522.

Wall Stadium

will open for its 51st season of stock car racing Saturday night. All four divisions, Modified (30 laps), Pro Stock (25), Street Stock (20) and Truck Series (15), will be in action as drivers begin their bids for the 2000 track championship. Joining the regular cars will be the popular Legends series. The 2000 season will run Saturday nights through Oct. 14. Monmouth Grand Slam,

Marlboro, will be hosting its annual baseball/softball summer camps starting in June. Students will use the Grand Slam’s indoor/outdoor facilities-batting cages, gym, batting tees, soft toss machine, swing king machines, radar guns and the baseball/softball field. Space is limited. The Princeton Area Walkers,

an affiliation of the American Volksport Association, have scheduled a 10K Walk at Monmouth Battlefield State Park, Manalapan, April 8. The start time is 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. with a 4 p.m. finish time. Anyone is welcome to participate in the walk. Children under 12 must be accompanied by an adult. The event will be held rain or shine. The Blue Chip Girls Basketball Shootout will be held at Seton Hall University, South Orange, on Saturday. Registration will be on-site between 8 and 8:30 a.m. with games beginning at 9 a.m.

The one-day event is designed for the student athlete who aspires to play at the college level. Each athlete will have the opportunity to compete against quality competition during the NCAA "live" period for college recruiters. Participants will play three games.
