Letter to the editor
To the editor:
May 20 is Armed Forces Day. As Company Mom for the soldiers of A Company, 201st LTF, I am requesting food donations for a coming-home party for these soldiers who were deployed to Kosovo in November 1999, before the holidays. Home-baked cookies are the favorite treat for these soldiers so far from home. We also need candy, pretzels and other cookies.
STAND UP AMERICA and support your deployed troops. Please support our soldiers and let them know we appreciate them and how proud we are of them. When we support our deployed soldiers, we support America’s best. Without these soldiers, we could not live the lifestyle we enjoy today. Sending a goodie package to them tells them you care and will put a smile on their faces!
If you wish to send a package, you can use a free priority box (from the post office). Two pounds costs just $3.20 and five pounds costs $6.50. You will need the customs form from the post office, too. Boxes from the supermarket are fine, too, if you can find one. (Shredded paper or plastic bags make excellent filler and protect cookies.) Please mail by May 10 to:

To those of you who send a package, thank you very much! If you have any questions call me at 896-0985.
For anyone who might be interested in writing to a soldier or “adopting” a soldier, e-mail: [email protected] or look at our Web site, www.adoptaplatoon.org.
