HIGHTSTOWN — Gertrude Woelfle Sterling, 93, of Hightstown, passed away Friday at Meadow Lakes.
Born in Jersey City, she resided in Maplewood, Princeton and Rossmoor, before moving to Meadow Lakes eight years ago.
Mrs. Sterling was active in the Child Guidance Center of Orange, N.J., she was a volunteer for Recording for the Blind and she had been active in local psychiatric services. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown. Mrs. Sterling was a graduate of Smith College class of 1927, she received her masters in Psychology from Columbia University.
Wife of the late George Dykeman Sterling; mother of the late David W. Sterling; and sister of the late Evelyn McGreivery; she is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Peter D. and Nancy L. Sterling of Houston, Texas; one daughter, Ann S. Farneti of Turin, Italy, six grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Interment will be held in August at Chatham Center, N.Y.
