Jess Case (7-10) dominated on the mound for the South Hunterdon High School softball team when it played North Hunterdon.
Case also hit a triple at the plate to knock in a run for South.
Senior Vicki Brown hit the ball well and scored several runs for South as the team started off its week with a 6-4 victory.
South held off Montgomery in the early going, but the opposing team finally broke through.
Montgomery pitcher Katie Brennan struck out 11 South batters to earn the victory. Case pitched well, but her team gave her no offensive support.
The girls wanted a win in the last game of the season.
They started off the game by saying, “Let’s go seniors.”
Things did not look good for South as the team fell behind early. Coach Lori Daniel kept her team motivated by reminding them, “How many times have we made late comebacks?”
The girls responded and started chipping away at the ball and scoring runs.
Although South did not win, the girls tried their hardest in the 6-3 loss to beat North Warren.
South wrapped up its season with a record of 9-14.
