Fund-raiser will be at McDougalds’ farm
A Hopewell Valley tradition, the annual R&R Country Gala and Auction will take place Sunday, June 25, rain or shine, 4 to 8 p.m. at the McDougald Farm, Old Mill Road, Pennington.
For more than 30 years, the event has helped support the Hopewell Valley-centered R&R (Reading and Recreation) Camp, providing summer reading, music, art, games and swimming for Trenton children.
The camp will take place at Hopewell Elementary School and will run for five weeks. The community is invited to bid on a wide selection of goods and services while enjoying the toe-tapping music of The Dadolescents. All-you-can-eat appetizers and desserts from the kitchens of the R&R supporters will supplement a grilled supper by Catered Cuisine of Pennington.
R&R counselors will supervise children’s games, while other volunteers run horse rides and hay rides. Individuals and local businesses will offer bidders a smorgasbord of items including: antiques, artwork, outings to restaurants and sports events, gourmet dinners, portrait photography and grooming sessions for humans and pets alike.
Attendance has grown in recent years, and reservations are strongly recommended. Tickets are $35 for adults, $15 for students 10-18 and children under 10, free. To donate an item or service or for further information call Country Gala Chairman Molly McDougald, 730-1825, or R&R President Dorothy Katz, 737-2039.
Those who wish to support the program but cannot attend the event may send a tax-deductible contribution to: R&R Program, c/o Dan Auslander, treasurer, 27 Old Mill Road, Pennington, 08534.
