Strawberry festival
   A strawberry festival will be held from 5 to 7 tonight, rain or shine, at Windsor United Methodist Church, 51 Church St., Windsor. The event will feature hot dogs, hamburgers and picnic fare, topped off with homemade strawberry shortcake and old-time music.
   The cost is $7 for adults, $4 for children age 6-12, children 5 and under, free. For large group reservations and advance tickets, call 587-8157 or 259-2435.
Open house
Beth El Synagogue will hold an open house for prospective members from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Sunday. Beth El is a full-service conservative synagogue with a preschool, Hebrew school, Sisterhood, Men’s Club and Seniors Club.

Choirfest
Queenship of Mary Church, Scudders Mill and Dey roads, Plainsboro, will host an Interdenominational Choirfest at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Approximately 160 choir members representing 10 area congregations in the Windsor-Hightstown Area Ministerium will participate.

Chamber meeting
The Hightstown-East Windsor Chamber of Commerce will meet at 11:45 a.m. June 8 at the Coach & Four Restaurant. The cost of the luncheon meeting is $20 for members and $25 for non-members.
   Instead of having a speaker, the chamber will celebrate Chamber Members’ Month. All members attending will be invited to stand and speak briefly about their businesses, goods and services and/or themselves. Members may bring all forms of printed matter about their business and anything else they wish to share with other members.

Park cleanup
   The Grant Avenue Park Committee invites all interested residents to participate in the annual Spring Cleanup from 9 a.m. to noon June 10. Bring garden tools and gloves for weeding, raking, pruning and mulching.
Historical Society
   The Hightstown-East Windsor Historical Society will host the League of Historical Societies of N.J. June 10. Historical societies throughout the state have been invited to visit the Ely House Museum and the new Sara Hutchinson West Educational Center. The society will show off its many displays of railroad history in the freight station, including its new libary.
   The League will enjoy lunch provided by the Hightstown Woman’s Club and Friday Club, and Rocky Brook Garden Club members will make floral arrangements for the occasion. Dr. Edgar Thomas will present a historical tour of the Hightstown-East Windsor communities in the afternoon.
BPW meeting
Hightstown-East Windsor Business & Professional Women will install its 2000-2001 club officers and conduct its annual planning meeting on June 12. Networking, education and a congenial atmosphere are part of every BPW meeting.
   The dinner meeting and program will be held at Mom’s Restaurant on Route 33 in East Windsor. Networking begins at 6:15 p.m. The meeting and program are open to anyone. The cost for dinner is $17.50; the meeting is free. For reservations and more information, call 426-4490 by June 10.
Dance lessons
The summer session of “Dancing by the Peddie Lake,” an eight-week class offering instruction in the waltz, fox trot, swing and Latin dancing, will begin June 16 and continue through Aug. 11. All classes will be held in the Great Room in the Casperson Campus Center at The Peddie School and start at 7:30 p.m. for beginners and 8:30 p.m. for intermediate students.
   No partner is required. The session will culminate in a ballroom dance social. The cost is $65 per person and $110 per couple. To register, come to the first class. For more information, call 490-7550.
Father’s Day breakfast
Hightstown Elks Lodge 1955 will hold a Father’s Day Breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. June 18 at the lodge, Hickory Corner Road. The menu includes pancakes, sausage, eggs, french toast, home fries, bacon, coffee, tea and milk. Donation is $5 for adults, $3 for children. Proceeds benefit Elks charities.
Folk concert
Outta Sights & Sounds and the Twin Rivers Community Trust will present Martha Wainwright in a coffeehouse performance at 8 p.m. June 24 in the Twin Rivers Community Room, Abbington Drive, Twin Rivers. Tickets are $8. For tickets and information, call 259-5764 or e-mail [email protected].
