GOP partisan failed to tell the entire story

Norman Graham, I commend you for being one of two members of the public who stayed at the May 25 Marlboro Township Council meeting until 1 a.m. to hear the first reading of the 2000 budget. However, since your letter was completely inaccurate, perhaps you should have listened to the audio tape of the meeting.

Yes, I requested $5,430 be added back to salary and wages and voted "no" for the budget along with my colleague Mary Singer. Since the council did not have four affirmative votes, a second reading of the budget could not be held on June 1 and third-quarter tax bills would be late reaching Marlboro homes.

A motion was made to approve the budget as presented — I then voted yes, as did Mary Singer. Had you listened to my comments you would have heard me request that my fellow council members reconsider my amendments on June 1.

On June 1 the township budget (with my amendments) passed unanimously.

I am proud to serve on a Township Council dedicated to good government and not the twisted political lies you feel compelled to present as vice president of the Marlboro Republican Club.
