Planners should support Krame application

To the editor:
After sitting through the Hillsborough Planning Board meeting on
May 25, I would like to thank the
Planning Board members for their
concerns about the safety of the people in our community as it relates to
traffic on Route 206, and the building
of the Hillsborough Promenade on
Falcon Road and Route 206.
The part of the discussion that I do
not understand dealt with the Planning
Board members not accepting the conclusions of the three different traffic
experts on the subject of safety.
The way I understood it, the traffic
plans are subject to review by the state
Department of Transportation to make
sure that our interests will be protected. Why doesn’t the Planning Board
accept the conclusion of the experts,
and the review by the state, and get on
with other issues?
I have great respect for the efforts
and the time put in by our Planning
Board, but at what point do they listen
to what the professionals tell them and
get on to other matters?
I hope they are being open-minded
and do not have their minds made up
and other agendas. Hillsborough
Promenade will bring new businesses,
new jobs, and some new places to
shop. It will also bring in some large
tax revenues to a township in desperate need of them.
Let’s not let being cautious turn
into being anti-, after all the Planning
Board is suppose to express the concerns and feelings of the entire township, not just the few present at the
meetings or their own personal feelings.
It’s time to get on with other important issues facing our community.
