Fireworks, without concert, rescheduled for Friday night

The township’s annual Fourth of July celebration, set to begin at 7 p.m. tonight at Rider University, has been postponed, township officials said.
A heavy rainstorm moved through Mercer County at approximately 4:20 this afternoon, with forecasts calling for a possibility of more showers throughout the rest of the day and into the night. Superintendent of Recreation Steven Groeger said the rain was the reason for postponing the event.
The fireworks have been rescheduled for Friday night at 9:15 p.m. at Rider, Mr. Groeger said. The rain, however, appears to have completely washed out the concert that was scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. tonight. Fred Campbell and the band First Class Act will not be playing Friday before the fireworks as they were scheduled to do tonight.
