Program for fighting prejudice will be offered

The Center for Holocaust Studies at Brookdale Community College, Middletown, will offer a two-week program for teachers in grades K-12 in "Providing the Practical Tools to Fight Prejudice" from July 31 through Aug. 11.

Classes will meet each weekday during the two-week period at Brookdale’s Western Monmouth Higher Education Center, Freehold.

Topics will include prejudice reduction, racism and genocide (including the Holocaust). Special guest lecturers include Dr. Bernard Weinstein from the New Jersey Commission on Holocaust Education; Peppy Margolis, author of New Jersey Curriculum; Dr. William Shulman, president of the Association of Holocaust Organizations; Jill Cerquiera, Holocaust educator at Holmdel High School; and Jane Denny, Yad Vashem Scholar from Rumson Country Day School.

Field trips include the Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., and the Holocaust Memorial Museum and the Jewish Heritage Museum in New York.

Participation is limited to 25, and cost per participant is $200.
