Thanks extended to South Brunswick Athletic Association volunteers

The spring recreation baseball season is over. Tournament and South Brunswick Athletic Association Summer League baseball is under way. Fall ball is just around the corner. How time flies when you’re having fun!

The board of directors of S.B.A.A. would like to say thank you to the following volunteers and organizations that helped make our spring recreation baseball season a success:

• The 98 local busi-ness/organizations that acted as team sponsors and helped defray the cost of playing S.B.A.A. baseball.

• The 196 volunteer parents who acted as team managers and assistants. Without your leadership and commitment our program would not work.

• The parents who committed to drive their children to and from the games throughout the township.

• The youth and adult umpires who trained and worked diligently to umpire over 728 baseball games.

• Mayor Johnson and the Township Council for continuing to support S.B.A.A. through a grant to help defray the cost.

• The South Brunswick Recreation and Community Affairs Department for working to coordinate use of fields and other maintenance issues.

• The South Brunswick Township Public Works Department for actual field maintenance and installation of the batting cages that S.B.A.A. purchased for Reichler and Sondek parks. These cages will help the children develop their hitting skills in years to come.

• South Brunswick Board of Education for use of school fields and field maintenance.

• The staff at South Brunswick Grand Slam for stuffing envelopes for us.

Our board of directors consists of 16 volunteers who put endless hours into helping make the baseball program in South Brunswick a success for your children. Whether it is soliciting sponsors, coordinating of team uniforms, unpacking and repackaging equipment bags in the loft, coordinating umpires, working to improve the fields, ordering and delivering trophies to league presidents, coordinating picture days, or acting as a league president, these board members deserve a big thank-you as well.

Finally, in an effort to continue to improve our program, we recently mailed a survey form to the parent/guardian of each child who played S.B.A.A. baseball to help us get better. Selecting volunteers to act on behalf of S.B.A.A. as a coach is not an easy job, so we’re asking that you help us by providing input on your child’s baseball experience. Being a volunteer coach is not always an easy job. Trying to keep everyone happy while your children learn about playing the game of baseball is a challenge. Please keep this in mind as you provide constructive input to us.

Again, thanks to everyone for a successful spring baseball season.
