It was a Daily Double for Point Pleasant at last Wednesday’s 5K race at Battlefield State Park, Manalapan.
Point Pleasant’s Adam Thomas and Jessica Thomas not only were the men’s and women’s winners in the Freehold Area Running Club’s Summer Race Series but finished one-two on top of it.
Adam Thomas ran the 5K Battlefield State Park course in 17:35 to finish first overall. He won the 15-19 age aground as well.
Jessica Thomas ran a swift 18:40 and was first among the women.
Ben Brennessel of Freehold was third overall (18:50) and second in the 15-19 age group. Manalapan’s Robert Schwartz was fourth (19:16) and Neptune’s Pete Bruno was fifth (19:35).
Rounding out the Top 10 were: Danielle Soldo, East Windsor (19:36); Kerwin Lanz, Farmingdale (19:57); Jerry Devlin, Mount Holly (20:13); Chris Reed, Freehold Township (20:21); and Joe Kelly, Parlin (20:29).
Age group winners for the men were: Adam Thomas (15-19); Mark Moore, East Windsor (30-39, 20:50); Schwartz (40-49); Devlin (50-59); Ralph Garfield, Manalapan (60-69, 22:06); and Jim Robbins (70 plus 29:22).
Age group winners for the women were: Erica Weitz, Morganville (U-15, 30:57); Jessica Thomas (15-19); Maya Levy, Manalapan (20-29 22:47); Soldo (30-39); Debbie Devlin, Mount Holly (40-49, 24:04); and Rosalie Lidzbarski, Monroe (50-59, 27:42).
Winner of the racewalking division was John Weitz of Morganville, who stepped off a 29:39.
