A group of 18 swimmers from the East Brunswick Sandpipers Swim Team participated in the Roycefield Sprint Meet held on July 16. The sandpipers are the home team of the Crystal Springs Aquatic Center. The Roycefield meet is held annually and is open to all swimmers in the New Jersey Swimming and Diving Conference. Representing the Sandpipers were Daniel Cahillane, Lauren Sean and Shannon Carney, Amalan, Kaila and Kavitha Krishnamoorthy, Theresa Lindboe, Luis Morales, Bill, Jimmy, and Steven Schreyer, Ashley and Kristen Steenvoorden, Kylie Suydam, Jenni and Katie Zavoda.

The Middlesex County All-Stars were defeated by the Union County All-Stars by a score of 27-21 in Snapple Bowl VII last Thursday.

The Middlesex Squad jumped out to an early 21-7 lead, due mainly to a pair of touchdowns from South Plainfield High’s Lamaar Grier; however, the Union squad then rolled off 20 unanswered points to pull out the victory. The Middlesex squad was looking for its third Snapple Bowl victory in a row.

Registration for the Old Bridge Ice Hockey Instructional Program is now being accepted at the Old Bridge Sports Arena every Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. during the month of August.

The 11-week program will begin in late September. Cost is $175 for residents, $200 for nonresidents.
