According to police, some time between midnight and 7 a.m. on July 29, someone broke into a car on Old York Road and stole numerous personal items, including a bookbag, clothing and a notebook. Entry was gained by breaking the vehicle’s rear window, said police, who have not named a suspect.
A 1997 Nissan struck a tree on East Front Street at 3 a.m. July 30 when the driver fell asleep at the wheel, said police.
The driver, Debra L. Sarlo, of Florence, was not injured, but was issued a summons for careless driving and the vehicle had to be towed from the scene.
A 1991 Chevrolet Camaro was traveling northbound on Route 130 at 5 a.m. July 30 when it veered off the roadway and struck a utility pole, said police. The driver, Andrew Ciascai of Roebling, was not injured, and was issued a summons for careless driving. His vehicle was towed from the scene.
A 1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass was traveling north on Route 130 at 8:45 p.m. July 30 when the driver fell asleep, and the vehicle struck a utility pole, said police. The driver, William Fynes of Jacobstown, sustained minor injuries, and was charged with careless driving and driving while intoxicated, said police. The vehicle was towed from the scene.
Beth Cannon, 35, of Roebling, was placed under arrest at 11 p.m. on July 31 after allegedly harassing a neighbor on the same street and creating a disturbance in the area, said police. Multiple attempts to resolve the dispute failed, said police, and the defendant was placed under arrest and charged with harassment. She later was released on her own recognizance.
A 15-year-old juvenile was riding a minibike on Riverbank Drive in Roebling when he rode onto the sidewalk near a municipal access road to Riverbank Drive and struck a pedestrian, who was uninjured, said police.
The juvenile was taken into custody and later released to a family member. Summonses were issued for careless driving, driving without a license and driving without registration. The minibike was impounded, said police.
BORDENTOWN CITY
At 1:15 p.m. July 16, police said Robert Richardson, 32, broke several windows of a Farnsworth Avenue residence. Police said Mr. Richardson stated he broke the windows so he could go to jail, as he was homeless. Mr. Richardson was placed in Burlington County Jail on an outstanding warrant for which he was unable to post bail.
At 8:50 a.m. and at 6:08 p.m. on July 21, it was reported two vehicles parked in the municipal parking lot on Farnsworth Avenue had been broken into the night before, said police.
A phone and cash were stolen from one vehicle, and a blanket and cash were stolen from the other, said police.
One vehicle was entered through a vent window, and the other may not have been locked, said police.
Police responded to a report from the Hilltop Exxon gas station at 2 a.m. on July 28 that a person had left without paying for $5 worth of gas and two packs of cigarettes.
Police put out an alert on the vehicle, a Volkswagen with temporary Pennsylvania plates, and approximately 10 minutes later that vehicle was stopped in North Hanover by that police department.
Frank Brown, 21, of Beach Haven, was charged with theft of movable property, and will appear in Bordentown City Municipal Court in August, said police.
BORDENTOWN
TOWNSHIP
According to police, on July 26, at 11:27 a.m., James L. Stanley, of Brigantine, told police that he was traveling on Route 130 Northbound, and when he attempted to turn onto Ward Avenue, the rear of his 1994 Ford truck slid on the wet pavement, causing it to overturn.
Mr. Stanley said he believed he was going 35 mph, police said. According to police, he also said he was aware of the turn. According to reports, the road surface was noted to be wet and the weather was raining. Mr. Stanley was transported to a local hospital to be treated for minor injuries to both knees and between his shoulder blades, police said. He was given a summons for careless driving.
On July 27, at 7:03 a.m. Harrington Williams of Brooklyn, N.Y., was driving his 1999 Chevrolet Lumina, attempting to enter onto Route 206 Northbound from the New Jersey Turnpike exit ramp, when he pulled in front of a 1991 Chevrolet truck driven by Jack R. Kratzer of Mt. Holly, police said.
According to police, Mr. Kratzer was proceeding north on Route 206 in the right lane when Mr. Williams pulled in front of him in an attempt to enter the left turn lane at Dunns Mill Road. Mr. Kratzer applied the brakes and skidded into Mr. Williams’ vehicle, police said.
Mr. Kratzer’s left bumper impacted Mr. Williams’ rear bumper area, police said, and Mr. Williams’ vehicle was towed from the scene.
Mr. Williams was issued a summons for failure to yield. Mr. Kratzer was issued a summons for failure to wear a seat belt.
SPRINGFIELD
Three cars were involved in a crash at the intersection of Routes 206 and 536 at 10:30 a.m. on July 26, said police, who attributed the crash to hydroplaning on wet roads.
Carrie Koval, 22, of Southampton, was unable to stop her Pontiac Sunbird at the traffic light at the intersection, and hydroplaned into the back of a Pontiac Grand Am driven by Eva Maria Green, 67, of Mount Laurel, said police. The grand Am spun around and hit a van driven by James Palmer, 59, of Jacobstown, said police.
Each vehicle sustained moderate to major damage, but there were no injuries. No charges were filed
Ms. Green was admitted to Virtua-Memorial Hospital of Burlington County in Mount Holly for observation and released.
