"I learned how to prepare for a big race and how to warm up," he said. "All of the hurdlers have speed and form at that level. The difference is the mental aspect. You have to be totally focused."
Running the hurdles takes great strength as well as speed and that is where the beach running should benefit Levinson, who is more of a strength runner, next spring.
"The 110-meter high hurdles are better for me because I’m a slow starter," he explained. "I’m a better closer. I pick up speed as the race progresses.
"Running on the beach has strengthened my leg muscles and been good for my cardiovascular system," he added. "It should make a difference in my hurdling."
But that is for the next track and field season. Right now Levinson is focusing on his newest sport which has taken him all the way across the country.
