Joe Pellegrino, the former Marlboro High School running standout, finished third at the 14th annual Monmouth Park Road Race on Aug. 1, running the four-mile course in 21:04. Russ Curley from Hamilton won the race in a quick 29:18. Pellegrino finished first in the men’s 20-29 age division.

Barbara Moldoch of Point Pleasant, who earlier this summer won the Freehold Area Running Club’s 5K for Women in Marlboro, added the Fort Monmouth race to her string of area wins.

Moldoch turned in a 24:03. Another ex-Brave, Chris Corey, was fourth in the women’s race (25:54).

She was first in the women’s 30-39 age division.

Nicole Callahan of Howell made history at the recent District 11 10-year-old Little League All-Star Tournament held at Spring Lake Heights.

Callahan, the starting shortstop for the North Howell Little League team, was just the fourth girl to play in the District 11 tournament in the last 10 years and only the second to ever be selected to the All-Tournament Team. Callahan had a sensational tournament for North Howell. She batted a team-high .667 and also led the squad in hits and runs scored.
