F. Ross Valentine Jr.

   HOPEWELL TOWNSHIP – F. Ross Valentine Jr., 84, died Aug. 5 at ManorCare Health Services, Yardley, Pa.
   Born in Woodbridge, he lived in Hopewell Township since 1948.
   Mr. Valentine retired from the Homasote Co., Ewing, where he was vice president of research and development and served on its board and closed-water treatment system and previously worked with U.S. Rubber Co.
   He was a member of Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, Trenton, and its Usher’s Guild, Men’s Choir and Vestry. He also was a member of Trenton Cyrus Lodge 5, F&AM, Pennington; Ancient Scottish Rite, Valley of Trenton; Ducks Unlimited; and other organizations. He was a member and past president of the Trenton Club and Black Rock Gun Club, where he was a champion skeet and trap shooter. He was a Cub Scout and Boy Scout leader and volunteer firefighter with Union Fire Co., Titusville.
   He enjoyed fishing.
   He graduated from the Pingry School and Yale University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in chemistry in 1937 and a doctorate in organic chemistry in 1941.
   Husband of the late Edith Harvey Valentine and father of the late James R., he is survived by a daughter, Susan H. Valentine of Titusville; two granddaughters, Tara Valentine McGinnis of Lawrence and Sharon Kathleen McGinnis of California; a daughter-in-law, Tracey Valentine Meloni of Alexandria, Va.; and a niece, Cornelia Vannozzi.
   Graveside service was Aug. 8 at Harbourton Cemetery with the Rev. Richard W. Townley Jr., pastor of St. Andrew Episcopal Church, officiating.
