During the past few weeks, the News Transcript has printed letters from Marl-boro resident Alexander Ingham regarding a lack of responsiveness on behalf of our community’s elected officials.
In truth, the News Transcript has no way of knowing whether the information contained in letters to the editor is correct or reflects the chronology of events, especially since the newspaper is published weekly and may print letters weeks after receipt. There-fore, an explanation is needed.
Mr. Ingham’s issues and concerns were addressed by personnel representing three departments. In July the Office of Pub-lic Information, at the direction of the governing body, ultimately referred Mr. Ingham’s legal questions to Planning Board Attorney Dennis Collins, who wrote a letter to Mr. Ingham (dated July 31), discussing specific points of law.
In fact, Mr. Ingham thanked the Office of Public Information, unbeknownst to the News Tran-script, for helping to expedite a response.
There is no question that Mr. Ingham is entitled to voice his opinions regarding politics and politicians. However, it is somewhat misleading for residents to believe that Marlboro’s govern-ment was unresponsive in this matter.
