The Freehold Township Clippers got hot at the right time. They ended the season on a 10-game winning streak with the ninth and 10th games leading them to the Central Jersey Baseball League’s 15-16-year-old Division championship.
A one-hit masterpiece from right-hander Kris Urbano in the final against Hazlet led the Clippers to a 2-0 win and the crown. The Clippers were flawless on defense behind Urbano.
In their first-round game, the Clippers got by a tough Freehold Borough nine, 6-3, to move into the final. Dave Lorber went the distance for the Clippers in picking up the win.
Manager Mike DiMaggio did not have to go to the bullpen once in the playoffs.
