Committee members showdisrespect for Twin Rivers

To the editor:
In a letter in the Aug. 11 edition of this paper, Committee for a Better Twin Rivers (CBTR) member Al Wally continues his role as their "Minister of Misinformation."
He attempts to place the blame for a recent state tax audit everywhere except where it belongs, at the feet of the CBTR. In December, as Mr. Wally wrote, the board allocated funds for our accounting firm to represent Twin Rivers during the audit.
This fact simply reflects a necessary action to deal with the audit, not the date we were notified of the audit. As for his additional ramblings, I was unaware he was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
The fact still remains, a CBTR member called the Trust office and asked about the audit two days before we received notification from the state. Mr. Wally has knowledge of who that CBTR member is. He also knows which CBTR member has now stated they are going to file a complaint with the federal government to have the IRS audit Twin Rivers. What will that cost the residents of Twin Rivers?
He also made mention of the firm which employs me having done business with Trust. This is no secret. It is a point well documented by the CBTR. They consider it a great accomplishment that the community now pays $3,900 a year for the same item Opus provided, as a courtesy, at $1,700. To answer an additional question about whether or not sales taxes were collected – the answer is "yes."
Mr. Wally opened his letter speaking of my "disrespect towards the residents of Twin Rivers." I have great respect for Twin Rivers and its residents. The residents of Twin Rivers showed their respect for me with their votes in the last election. The only people who seem to show constant disrespect towards our community and its residents are Mr. Wally and the CBTR.
