Martin L. Barratt Jr., 48, died Aug. 16 at home.
Born in Newark, he lived in Nutley and Randolph before moving to Lawrenceville 12 years ago.
He was assistant vice president and director of loss control with CNA E&S of Monmouth Junction.
A certified safety professional, he received the region VIII Safety Professional of the Year Award in 1998 and was past president of the American Society of Engineers Penn-Jersey Chapter. He was a member of Lawrence Township Recreation Advisory Committee, exalted ruler of Nutley Boys Social and Athletic Club, and editor of the Monthly Bull.
Mr. Barratt received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Newark College of Engineering and a master’s degree in safety engineering from New Jersey Institute of Technology.
He participated in many youth sports activities and was a New York Yankees and Giants fan.
Son of the late Martin L. Sr. and Marie Bliss Coppla Barratt, he is survived by his wife, Patricia Ponton Barratt; a son, Jonathan, and two daughters, Emily and Jennifer Barratt at home; and a sister, Sue Ellen Wahlers of Belleville.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Aug. 21 at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, 1253 Lawrence Road.
Burial was in Mendham Cemetery, Mendham.
