Road is closed, and residents wonder when work will start

In the early part of June, the township of Howell closed a section of Bergerville Road between Spruce Hollow Drive and Jackson Mills Road. Ostensibly this was done to complete some repairs in that area. Since that time, not one moment’s work has been done.

I called town hall during the second week of August to inquire as to the progress, or rather the inception of work.

I was told that the contracts had "just been awarded."

Why would a town close a section of road, causing inconvenience to all the local residents, two months before the contracts had even been awarded?

They told me further that they "hoped" to have the project completed by the beginning of school. It has now been two weeks since my call and still no work has begun.

So, I would like to ask Howell Township, what in the world are you doing? Is this a typical bureaucratic boondoggle, wherein the needs and convenience of the citizenry are sublimated to the whims and poor planning of local government?

When will the construction on Bergerville Road be completed? For that matter, when will it begin?
