EWING – Sarah Sample Powell, 70, died Aug. 20 at Capital Health System at Mercer Hospital, Trenton.
Born in Accomac County, Va., she lived in Ewing more than 35 years.
Mrs. Powell retired after more than 30 years with Switlik Parachute Co.
She was a member of St. Paul AME Zion Church, Trenton, where she was an usher and member of the Stewardess and Deaconess boards.
Daughter of the late Leroy and Mary Spady Sample and sister of the late Thomas L. and Elsie R. Sample, she is survived by her husband, Levi C. Sr.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Levi C. Jr. and Valentina Powell of Lawrenceville and Thomas L. of Browns Mills; three daughters and a son-in-law, Mercedes and Mary Powell of Trenton and Olivia and the Rev. Larry Crossland of Louisville, Ky.; five brothers and three sisters-in-law, Marion Sample of Dayton, Ohio, Ira and Etta J. Sample and Elijah and Equilla Sample, all of Ewing, Leroy and Queen Mary Sample of Savannah, Ga., and Clarence Sample of Fairless Hills, Pa.; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Virginia and Henry Moses, Rosezenia and Paul Isreal and Viola Sample, all of Trenton; seven grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral was Aug. 25 at St. Paul AME Zion Church, Trenton, with the Rev. Larry Crossland officiating.
Burial was in Ewing Cemetery.
