Eugene E. Pierre
Retired AT&T technician
   Eugene Emile Pierre of Princeton Borough died Aug. 25 at The Medical Center at Princeton. He was 75.
   Born in Princeton, he attended Princeton High School and was a lifelong resident.
   He was a microwave radio equipment technician with AT&T, retiring in 1983 after 37 years.
   A World War II veteran, he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart after being wounded in action in France.
   He was an avid model airplane designer and won numerous awards for his work. He was also a Dixieland and jazz enthusiast.
   He was a member of Princeton American Legion Post 76, National Free Flight Society and the Academy of Model Aeronautics.
   Son of the late August and Margaret Pierre, he is survived by sister-in-law Mary Virginia Pierre of Lawrence; nieces Beth Nami of Pennington, Patricia Bell of West Windsor and Phyllis Hoagland of Penn Yan, N.Y.; nephews Hank Pierre of Imlaystown, Tom Carroll of Troy, N.Y. and Michael Sweeney of Rochester, N.Y.; cousin Don Pierre of Princeton; 13 grandnieces and grandnephews; and nine great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
   A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. today at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St.
   Burial will follow in St. Paul Cemetery.
   Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post 76, Princeton.
   Arrangements are by The Kimble Funeral Home, Princeton.
John F. Ficken
Owned garage business
   MONTGOMERY – John F. Ficken died Monday at The Medical Center at Princeton. He was 86.
   Born in Long Island City, N.Y., he lived in Montgomery most of his life.
   He owned and operated an auto garage business in Princeton and Blawenburg for many years.
   He was an Army veteran of World War II.
   Mr. Ficken was a former Montgomery Township mayor, a member of the Blawenburg Reformed Church and a charter member and former chief of the Montgomery Township Volunteer Fire Co. #2.
   He is survived by his wife Frances Warmke Ficken; niece Louise Nittolo; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
   The funeral was held Thursday. Arrangements were by the Hillsborough Funeral Home, Belle Mead.

Gregory Y. Titelman
Daughter in West Windsor
   NEW YORK – Gregory Y. Titelman died Wednesday at The Medical Center at Princeton. He was 75.
   Born in the Ukraine, Mr. Titelman was a resident of New York for the past 22 years.
   He was active in teaching English as a second language both in the New York Public School System and Yeshiva University. He was the author of "Random House Dictionary of Popular Proverbs and Sayings."
   He was a graduate of the Moscow Military Academy.
   Husband of the late Eugenia Titelman, he is survived by daughters and son-in-law Fayina and Selig Sechzer of West Windsor and Elena Cherkes of East Windsor; sister Bella Kruglyak of Toronto; and five grandchildren
   The funeral will be 11 a.m. today at the Jewish Center of Princeton, 457 Nassau St., Princeton.
   Burial will be at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing.
   The period of mourning will be observed at the Sechzer resident, West Windsor.
   Arrangements are by Orland’s Ewing Memorial Chapel, Ewing.
Louis L. Katona
Worked at Carter-Wallace
   MONTGOMERY – Louis L. Katona died Sunday at The Medical Center at Princeton. He was 84.
   Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Montgomery since 1952.
   He retired in 1977 from Carter-Wallace in Cranbury after a 40-year career in sales.
   He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
   He was a member of Princeton Lodge 2129 of the B.P.O.E. and Princeton Lodge 38 of the F.& A.M.
   Husband of the late Eleanor E. Katona, stepbrother of the late Alex Bogan, brother of the late Elizabeth Vallery, he is survived by son and daughter-in-law Leslie G. and Peggy of Mercer, Pa.; grandsons Adam and Jay Fister; and a great-grandson.
   Services were held Thursday at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, Princeton.
Cynthia A. Fox
Longtime Princeton resident
   Cynthia Atkinson Fox of Princeton Township died Tuesday at the Merwick unit of The Medical Center of Princeton. She was 89.
   Born in Trenton, she was a resident of Princeton most of her life.
   She was a member of the New Jersey Audubon Society and Society of Friends.
   Daughter of the late Alvin and Sarah Atkinson and wife of the late Ralph Fox, she is survived by son Robin Fox of St. Paul, Minn.; niece Sally Oppenheimer; and several other nieces, nephews, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.
   A memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday at the Quaker Meeting House, 470 Quaker Road, Princeton Township.
   Burial will be private.
   In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Princeton Monthly Quaker Meeting, 470 Quaker Road, Princeton, NJ 08540.
