MAIN STREET CORNER
By the time the Fourth Annual Main Street Scramble concludes Friday, it will surely go down as one of the most successful events in the history of Lawrenceville Main Street.
This year, Lawrenceville Main Street has been able to garner a record number of corporate sponsors for the event, meaning that this year’s scramble will have raised a substantial amount for the group’s civic revitalization programs for the village of Lawrenceville.
Main Street recently announced that two more companies have joined as corporate sponsors for the scramble: Transco, a unit of The Williams Companies Inc., and Merrill Lynch & Co. Inc.
Williams provides a full range of traditional and leading-edge energy and communications services. Based in Tulsa, Okla., Williams employs more that 23,000 people worldwide. Other major offices are located in Houston, Salt Lake City and Owensboro, Ky. It also has an office in Princeton.
Williams Gas Pipeline consists of five interstate natural gas pipeline systems: Central, Kern River, Northwest, Transco, and Texas Gas. These make Williams one of the largest-volume transporters of natural gas, with access to every major supply basin in the country. This vast, 27,300-mile pipeline network stretches from coast to coast and from Mexico to Canada, delivering approximately 16 percent of the natural gas consumed in the United States. Transco (Transcontinental Gas Pipe Line), one of the five interstate natural gas pipelines owned by Williams, operates a 10,500-mile pipeline system that transports natural gas from the Gulf Coast to New Jersey and other eastern and southeastern states.
Merrill Lynch is one of the world’s leading financial management and advisory companies with offices in 44 countries and total client assets of approximately $1.8 trillion. As an investment bank, it is the top global underwriter and market maker of debt and equity securities and a leading strategic advisor to corporations, governments, and individuals worldwide. Merrill Lynch has offices in Lawrenceville and Princeton.
Williams and Merrill Lynch join the other corporate sponsors, Volvo of Princeton and Electronic Payments Network, and the event sponsor RCN Corp.
The scramble will start tomorrow, Friday, at 11 a.m. and conclude with a community picnic at 5 p.m., to which everyone is invited. For further information, call Ann Garwig, executive director of Lawrenceville Main Street, at 219-9300.
