Eib sentenced
to 12 years;
free on bond
SOUTH RIVER — Christopher Eib, the son of a former borough police chief, has been sentenced to 12 years in prison.
On Monday, Judge Barnett Hoffman sitting in state Superior Court, New Brunswick, sentenced the 33-year-old truck driver to 12 years in prison in connection with the assault of a 7-year-old in Old Bridge last year.
Eib has been charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, Assistant Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrea Carter said.
According to Old Bridge police reports last year, Eib, a resident of Old Bridge, was first accused of having molested his 7-year-old step-daughter in March 1999. His stepdaughter’s friend later came forward with additional charges.
Just days after the first two accusations, a third victim came forward charging that Eib had sexually assaulted her also.
In all, two of the girls are younger than 13, while the third victim is between the ages of 13 and 16.
Eib is on bail pending an appeal from his attorney. According to Carter, Hoffman decided to allow Eib to remain free on bail during the duration of the appeal because he did not feel that Eib posed a danger to the community or risk of flight.
Eib is the son of former Chief of Police Francis X. Eib, who recently retired after serving more than 20 years on the force.
Eib still faces charges in connection with the two other girls who allege they were sexually assaulted last year.
