I am a local resident of many years. I grew up in Marlboro, live here and work in the community. As a local real estate agent, I drive through Marlboro, Manalapan and Freehold to earn my living.
Last year I had the misfortune of receiving a speeding ticket on Robertsville Road in Marlboro. The policeman said I was going 42 mph in a 25-mph zone.
I know many of us are and have been guilty of doing this, but since that incident, I have been observing the speed limits in all of our local towns. When the speed limit is 25 mph or 35 mph, that is what I drive.
My complaint is to my fellow resident drivers. Drivers constantly tailgate me in our community. They are annoyed with my slow driving. I am observing the speed limit, not breaking the law.
They are trying to break the law by going faster than the speed limit — and in doing so they are driving so close to me that it has become dangerous on several occasions.
Why does it take a speeding ticket to realize that we generally drive much too fast through our neighborhood streets? Those of you reading this know who you are. I ask you, please, observe the signs and respect the drivers who do.
