Congressional awards given to local students
Rep. Rush Holt (D-12th) recently presented Congressional Awards to local students at a ceremony at the Eastern Branch of the Monmouth County Library in Shrewsbury.
The award honors community service and personal achievement. It is the U.S. Congress’ award for young Americans and is presented to students age 14 to 23 in bronze, silver and gold certificates and bronze, silver and gold award medals. Each level involves four program areas: volunteer public service, personal development, physical fitness and expedition/exploration.
Brittany Tomney of Rumson was awarded the silver medal. Students winning the bronze medal were Geoffrey Basore of Little Silver, Beverly Bolton of Rumson, Daniel Csernica of Little Silver and Lauren Davies of Tinton Falls.
Other bronze medalists were Nicholas Dean Fitton of Shrewsbury; Elizabeth Kroll of Rumson; Andrew and Kathryn Lichtig of Shrewsbury; Monica Moore and Alysha Sorrentino, both of Tinton Falls; and Thomas Steckroth of Little Silver.
Arc of Monmouth selling Entertainment books
The Arc of Monmouth, Tinton Falls, is raising funds by selling the Entertainment 2001 book for $30, with all proceeds earmarked for programs and services for individuals in Monmouth with developmental disabilities.
The book contains two-for-one discounts for dining, fast food, movies, sports activities and resorts, along with other discounts.
