Red Bank Catholic gets Sportsmanship Award

Red Bank Catholic High School has been selected by the Shore Conference as the 1999/2000 NJSIAA Sportsmanship Award winner. The award was presented recently at the Sportsmanship Summit in Edison. NJSIAA Executive Director Boyd A. Sands said, "This award is a credit to the athletes, coaches, cheerleaders, students and adult fans of your community."

The award banner will be displayed in Red Bank Catholic High School’s gymnasium.

Guild sets art exhibit at Center for Healing Arts

The Guild of Creative Art, Shrewsbury, is participating in a joint exhibition, "Joy of Art," through Nov. 2. The show is in conjunction with the New Jersey Center for the Healing Arts show, "A Soothing Pastime."

The works of Karen Cohen and Linda Levy will be highlighted. A free reception will be held at the center’s offices, 23 Mechanic St., Red Bank, on Oct. 1, 2-6 p.m. There will be an arts auction, to benefit the center’s "Arts for Health" program. Cohen will also have a show at the guild from Oct. 12-Nov. 8.

Over the Rainbow offers discounts to seniors

Over the Rainbow Productions, Eatontown, is thanking local seniors and students for their patronage with a discount. Students or seniors (age 62 and older) may purchase tickets for 3 p.m. Sunday shows for $10. Friday and Saturday prices will remain the same.

The playhouse is located at 37-13 Route 35 north in Eatontown. It will show the following plays: Wait Until Dark now through Oct. 8. Cheaper by the Dozen, Nov. 4-27. It’s a Wonderful Life, Dec. 8-17. Laffin’ School for teens, now through Oct. 8, 2 p.m. (Saturdays) and 12:30 p.m. (Sundays). Tickets for this show are $7.50. Call the playhouse at (732) 462-0100.

VNACJ plans ‘Afternoon at Jolly Cackle Farm’

The Children’s Auxiliary of Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey (VNACJ), Red Bank, will host "An Afternoon at Jolly Cackle Farm" at 111 Bowne Road, Locust section of Middletown, from 1-4 p.m. Oct. 1.

Tickets are $75 per family, which includes food, a magician, face painting, pony rides, carnival games and other activities.

Proceeds benefit the Children’s Endowment Fund, which provides primary care, immunizations, home nursing, nursing and speech therapy in day care centers, and other services for children.

Chairman and vice chairman, respectively, are Kathy Fuschetti and Margaret Spicer, both of Rumson. Committee chairwomen include Carol Belmonte, Sharon DeWyngaert, Janine Karoly and Nancy Maloof of Fair Haven; and Donna Berry, Barbara Eatough, Mariann Miller, Laurie Potter and Laura Tooker of Rumson.
