MONTGOMERY – The Township Board of Education says it hopes to hire a district superintendent by March 1, under a newly announced timetable.
The board interviewed six candidates throughout October and planned to select one of two finalists for the position by Oct. 23. It reopened the search last week when one of the two finalists withdrew from consideration because of "personal conflicts," according to School Board President Linda Romano.
The position will be advertised again through Dec. 2 and finalists will be interviewed from Dec. 3 to 9, according to a press release issued Monday. Montgomery school district officials now plan to visit the school districts of the two finalists the week of Dec. 11 through 15 and select and appoint the chosen candidate by Dec. 18.
Dr. Thomas Butler has been interim superintendent since August, after Superintendent Jamie Savedoff left Montgomery on June 30 to head the East Brunswick district.
