Newspapers sought
   The Bordentown Library is looking for issues of the Register-News from 1998. The library has been awarded a grant from the New Jersey State Library to have its copies of the Register from 1993 through 1999 microfilmed, but is missing the issues from June through December 1998.
   Anyone who can donate or lend those issues to the library is asked to call Regina Reay at the library, 298-0622.
La Leche League
   La Leche League of Jobstown, a nonprofit breastfeeding support group, meets at 10 a.m. the fourth Thursday of each month (except August and December) at the Jacksonville Presbyterian Church. Babies and children are welcome. For information, contact Maura, 265-3912.
Hall of Fame
nominations
   The Bordentown Regional Athletic Hall of Fame is accepting nominations for the 2001 class. Nomination applications are available on the school Web site at www.bordentown.K12.nj.us or in the high school main office.
   The Bordentown Regional Athletic Hall of Fame Committee is accepting applications for membership from Bordentown City, Bordentown Township, Fieldsboro or New Hanover Township. Contact Ed Chmiel, BRHS athletic director, at 298-0025, ext. 1114.
   The Hall of Fame also is accepting sponsorship for its Feb. 17, 2001 induction. Contact Mr. Chmiel at the above number.
Cub Scouts

Toastmasters
meetings
   The Silver Tongues chapter of Toastmasters meets at 7 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at the Londonshire Restaurant, Route 130, Burlington. Toastmasters is a national non-profit organization that helps members become better communicators and public speakers.

Kindermusik
   Kindermusik classes are offered at the Allentown Presbyterian Church, High Street, Allentown. Registration is in progress. Classes offered are "Village" for babies; "Our Time" for children ages 18 months to 3 years; "Growings" for children ages 3-4; and "Young Child" for children ages 4½ to 6.
   Kindermusik is a unique program of learning and enjoyment. The curriculum allows students to explore the world of music through listening, singing, moving, ear training, music history, playing instruments, practicing in ensemble, performing for each other and enjoying musical games.

Neil Simon play
   The New Bordentown Community Players will present Neil Simon’s "Come Blow Your Horn" for its fall 2000 production at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Crosswicks Community House, Main Street, Crosswicks.
   Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for senior citizens and students and can be purchased from any group member. Tickets also will be available at the door.
Scarecrow contest
   Families, community groups and individuals are invited to participate in the Roebling Garden Club’s Scarecrow Contest. Scarecrows may be put up around the Roebling circle and judging will take place Saturday. Judges are Mayor Michael Muchowski and members of the Florence Township Council. Cash prizes will be awarded.

Open house
   Family of Friends, a non-profit mothers’ network, will host an open house from 10 a.m. to noon today at the Raymond I. Dwier Recreation Center, 100 Church St., Groveville. Moms and their children are invited to attend and learn more about the group. Family of Friends offers playgroups throughout the year, mom and tot outings, mom’s night out, holiday parties, community outreach and other family activities.

65th reunion
   The Class of 1935 of William MacFarland High School will hold a 65th class reunion luncheon at 12:30 p.m. Friday at the Town and Country Diner, Bordentown. For more information, call 298-1461.
Trash and treasure
   Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, will hold its monthly trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to noon Friday and Saturday. Pre-loved clothing and household items are available, in addition to some new items and Christmas items.
BMI alumni parade
   The alumni of the "Last Man Association" of the Bordentown Military Institute will reunite Saturday in Bordentown. The alumni will march through the city at 3 p.m. to the cadet statue on Park Street, at the former site of "Old Main," where a memorial service will be held.
Gospel singer
   Arthelene Rippy, national speaker and Christian television personality, will appear at 6 p.m. Sunday at Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Road, Burlington. Ms. Rippy’s ministry in television extends to talk show hostess and religious news reporting. She is the host of a daily program for women called Home Keepers. Her career in Gospel music includes producing as well as performing.
Women’s Day
   Shiloh Baptist Church, 104½ Elizabeth St., Bordentown, will observe its annual Women’s Day at 11 a.m. Sunday. The guest speaker will be Edith Jackson Campbell, music director of Mt. Zion A.M.E. Church of New Brunswick and the New Jersey Conference Choir of the First Episcopal District.
   Dinner will follow the service. The public is invited.
Fashion show
   The Ladies Auxiliary of Bordentown Elks Lodge 2085, 11 Amboy Road, Bordentown, will hold its annual fashion show featuring "The Dress Barn" at 1 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are $8, which includes the fashion show, finger sandwiches and refreshments. Call 298-6716 or 298-5492.
Golf tournament
   The seventh annual Beverly Robinson Golf Tournament, sponsored by the Bordentown Rotary Club, will be held Monday at the Olde York Country Club, Chesterfield. Tee time is 11 a.m. Tickets are $150 and include greens fees, cart, Continental breakfast, lunch, prizes, sleeve of balls, tees and refreshments on the course. Theatrical production

Oyster dinner

Halloween parade
   The Consolidated Fire Association will sponsor the annual Halloween parade at 2 p.m. Oct. 29. Rain date is Nov. 5. The parade committee has chosen Betty Ann and Paul Castonguay as grand marshals for their many years of community support and 40 years of business.
   Donations are coming in from the community and businesses; donations also will be collected during the parade. Area businesses groups and organizations still are needed to participate; bands, floats, marching groups, twirlers, masqueraders, clowns, horses, antique cars and others. Harvest Fun Fair
   Fountain of Life Center, 2035 Columbus Road, Burlington, will offer a Harvest Fun Fair from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Oct. 31 as an alternative to Halloween trick or treating for children ages 4-12. Costumes are not necessary and the evening will feature games, clowns and free candy. Children must be accompanied by an adult. The event is free and open to the public.

Family Fest
   Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 280 Crosswicks Road, Bordentown, will hold a Family Fest, featuring a concert by Captive Free, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 31. Families can enjoy hayrides and games from 6 to 7 p.m., with the concert planned for 7 to 8 p.m., followed by free hot dogs, apple cider and cookies. Candy bags will be given out immediately after the concert.

Library programs
   The fall story hour, Magic of Reading, will be held at 7 p.m. Nov. 1 and 8 at the Bordentown Branch, Burlington County Library. Children age 4-6 will enjoy an hour of stories and excitement. Story hour for children ages 3-5 will be held at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 2 and 9.
   Children ages 7-10 are invited to attend the third and final Hogwarts class at 3:45 p.m. Nov. 9 and test their Harry Potter knowledge during a game of "Who Wants to be a Wizard?"

Koenig Oilers
reunion
   The Bordentown Koenig Oilers baseball team of the Rancocas Valley League will hold a reunion Nov. 5. Players from the Oilers teams and members of the Bordentown team of the Central Jersey League are invited to attend. Spaghetti dinner
   St. Mary’s School, Bordentown, will hold its annual pasta dinner from 1 to 5 p.m. Nov. 12. The menu includes salad, spaghetti, homemade meatballs, rolls, cake and beverage. The cost is $6 for adults, $4 for children under 12. Take-out dinners will be available as well.
Theater trip
   The Friends of St. Mary’s School, Bordentown, will sponsor a bus trip to the Millennium Theatre in Lancaster, Pa., Nov. 16 to see the show "The Miracle of Christmas." The bus leaves St. Mary’s at 10 a.m. and will stop for lunch at Shady Maple at noon. The show starts at 3:30 p.m.

Christmas bazaar
   Trinity United Methodist Church, 339 Farnsworth Ave., Bordentown, will hold its annual Christmas bazaar from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 17 and 11 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18. Featured will be crafts, a cake and pantry cupboard, homemade candy, used jewelry and a trash & treasure room.
   A soup and sandwich luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Nov. 17, and a family-style roast beef dinner will be served from 4 to 6:30 p.m. Nov. 18. Holiday bazaar
   The Sarah E. Currington Womens’ Missionary Society of Mt. Zion AME Church will hold its annual holiday bazaar from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Hope Hose Firehouse, Willow and West Burlington streets, Bordentown. The day will feature a Southern-style breakfast from 8 to 10 a.m., sausage or chicken lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., vendors, crafts, baked goods, a "second time around" table, gift table, face painting and door prizes every hour. Las Vegas trip
   The Florence Township Seniors will sponsor a trip to Las Vegas April 1-5, 2001. The group will take a direct flight on American Airlines and stay at the Flamingo Hilton Hotel. All taxes and gratuities are included in the package. Fliers and more information are available by calling 499-2055.
Purchase a paver
   The Bordentown Veterans Memorial Committee has announced an extension in time for ordering a paver for the plaza area of the proposed new memorial on Farnsworth Avenue. For those who prefer it, a lay-away plan can be used in which the buyer pays a fixed amount each month until the total amount of $150 is paid.

   The Bordentown Shade Tree Committee has established a Memorial Tree Program. Memorial Tree Program brochures can be picked up at App’s Hardware Store, 377 Farnsworth Ave. and By the Book at U & I Gifts, 150 Farnsworth Ave.
Volunteers needed
   CONTACT of Burlington County, a 24-hour telephone helpline, needs volunteer telephone counselors. No experience is necessary, but volunteers must be 18 or older. Morning training sessions began this month and an evening session will be offered in the spring.
   After completing training, volunteers will have the skills necessary to assist people who depend on CONTACT’s Helpline services. Those interested call CONTACT of Burlington County at (856) 234-8888, (609) 871-4700 or (609) 267-8500.
GED program
   Bordentown Community Education/Recreation offers a free preparation program for those interested in obtaining their GED diploma. Classes are designed to allow students to attend two nights per week, study at their own pace and take the GED test when they are prepared.
   The GED test is administered in both English and Spanish. Instruction focuses on review and development needs in test areas of English, math, science and social studies.
