   The Hightstown High School field hockey season has been one of streaks. Going into action yesterday, Hightstown was on a win streak and still alive for a berth in the state playoffs.
   Hightstown latest win streak included a 1-0 win over West Windsor North back on Oct. 12. Justine Postorino scored the lone goal in the first half. Kristen Ewer recorded the shutout in goal by making three saves. Hightstown outshot West Windsor 15-3.
   Hightstown improved to 6-7 on the season with a 2-0 win over West Windsor South this past Monday. Hightstown was outshot 11-8, but it made the shots that counted.
   Ewer was tremendous in goal for Hightstown, making 11 saves and recording her second shutout in as many games.
   Lena Wong and Christine Septak scored a goal each for Hightstown in the first half. Marietta Carreno and Postorino each had an assist.
   Hightstown needs to have a .500 mark by the end of play today to make the state playoffs. Hightstown was scheduled to face Lawrence yesterday and Peddie today.
HHS doubles wins in loss
   The Hightstown High School girls’ tennis team was defeated by Steinert back on Oct. 12 by a 4-1 score.
   Colleen DeLuca and Karen Levine recorded the lone win for Hightstown at second doubles by a score of 6-0, 6-2. Cristina Fua won nine games in her match at second singles.
   In other action, Hightstown was defeated 5-0 by Nottingham.
Yaeggy part of doubles win
   Vivian Yaeggy, a freshman from Hightstown, teamed with Greta Flaherty to help the Regis College tennis team record a 6-3 win over Worcester State.
   Regis College had singles victories from Chantal Marsoubian, Jennie Reis, Mary Kate Huie and Stephanie McElligot. Reis and Huie won at second soubles, 8-6. Yaeggy and Flaherty won their doubles match, 9-7.
Helstrom going into Hall of Fame
   East Windsor’s Jane M. Tatum Helstrom is part of the group that is going into the Moravian College Athletic Hall of Fame tonight.
   Mark Braun, Jeffrey Cullingford, Neil Fromm, William Kraus and Scott A. Stanilious will also be inducted. Also being honored will be David Calvo posthumously and the 1960 baseball team.
   Helstrom competed on the women’s volleyball and women’s basketball teams for four years at Moravian and graduated in 1990.
   Helstrom was a Middle Atlantic Conference All-Star on the volleyball team as a sophomore, junior and senior and the Lehigh Valley Intercollegiate Athletics for Women Association Player of the Year as a senior. Helstrom was the team captain and team MVP her final two years.
   On the basketball court, Helstrom was the team MVP, a MAC All-Star and a Kodak All-District Player her senior season, the year Moravian made its second NCAA Tournament appearance. She also helped the Greyhounds to a MAC Southern Championship and a Eastern College Athletic Conference title as a freshman. Helstrom, who scored 1,022 points in her career, earned the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Award in 1990 as well as the Moravian Most Outstanding Senior Female Athlete Award.
Jackson coming to card show
   Grant Jackson, a former New York Yankee and Philadelphia Phillie and member of the 1979 World Champion Pittsburgh Pirates, will be appearing at the Bordentown Sports Card, Comic Book and Beanie Show on Oct. 29.
   The show will be held at the Bordentown Armory, located on Rote 206 from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Jackson will be appearing from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.. Jackson’s autographs will be $6.
   Admission to the show is $2. Children 6 and under are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. Each paid admission includes a chance at door prizes.
