GOWER, MO. – William Wesley "Bill" Bowers, 66, of Gower, Mo., passed away Saturday at his home.
Mr. Bowers lived in Glen Burnie, Md., then moved to Hightstown, followed by moving to Gower, Mo.
Mr. Bowers worked for Mead Containers in Glen Burnie, Md., Hightstown and St. Joseph, Mo., and in 1995 retired from Weyerhaeuser Paper Company in St. Joseph, Mo.
He was a member of the Gower Christian Church, was Past Master and member of the Gower Masonic Lodge #397 in Gower, Moila Shrine Temple in St. Joseph and the York Rite Bodies. He was Past Patron and member of the Areme Chapter #461, Order of the Eastern Star in St. Joseph, Past Sovereign of Red Cross of Constantine, St. Joseph Conclave, Volunteer Fireman and First Aid in Hightstown, Little League coach in Glen Burnie, Md. He was also a Youth Sports Volunteer, Girls Softball Coach and served as a baseball and softball umpire for the Gower Ball Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Frederick and Matilda Elizabeth Ream; one son, Thomas Wesley Bowers; one brother, Charles Frederick Bowers; and one sister, Winifred Bond.
He is survived by his wife, Eileen R. Bowers; three daughters, Lynne A. Bowers, Leavenworth, Kansas, Susan M. Fuller, Houston, Texas and Kathleen Bowers, St. Joseph, Mo.; one son, Michael D. Bowers, Woodbine; five grandchildren, Timothy W. Bowers, RoseAnne M. Bowers, Wayne W. Robinson, Charles F. Robinson and Samantha K. Fuller; two sisters, Jean Larkins and Sal Livingston, both of Wildwood, Fla.; other relatives and many friends.
The deceased was cremated.
Masonic Services were held Oct. 18 at the Gower Christian Church with Memorial services and family visitation following.
Internment was in Allen Cemetery, Gower, Mo.
Donations may be made to the Gower Masonic Lodge, Knights Templar Eye Foundation, or Shriner’s Hospital for Children.
Arrangements were from the Hixson-Klein Funeral Home, Gower, Mo.
