Children’s manners are much appreciated on Halloween

As I closed my door to the last trick-or-treater, I couldn’t help noticing the outstanding manners of the children in my area.

We recently moved from a neighboring town where on Halloween, upon opening the door, more than the majority of kids or teens stood with their bags open, got their candy and walked away. Rarely to never did you hear a thank you or any exchange of words.

This Halloween was a breath of fresh air. My beliefs of common courtesy and raising children with respect and manners were renewed. I opened the door to smiling faces and repeatedly heard "Trick or Treat," "Happy Halloween," "Thank you" and even "Have a nice day."

Both my husband and teen-age son noticed and remarked about the same. We were totally astonished and could only conclude, what a difference a town makes.

We wholeheartedly enjoyed this Halloween. I compliment the parents of Freehold Township for their beautiful children. Be proud; they are our future.
