South River adopts new slogan

SOUTH RIVER — South River has a proud past and a bright future; at least that’s what the new town slogan says.

Karyn Migut recently was awarded $150 for coming up with the best entry in the South River Borough slogan contest, sponsored by the South River Cultural and Heritage Commission.

The slogan may be used on the borough’s letterhead, and signs entering and exiting town may also be donned with the new slogan, according to Borough Council President David Sliker.

"This is the first year that the borough has held such a contest," he said.

In addition to Migut’s winning entry, there were many other entries from residents of various age groups.

Sarah Lamanna won second place and a $100 gift certificate for her entry, "A town with pride and heart." Third place was awarded to Allyson Hopewell for her slogan, "A small town with rich traditions." Fourth place was won by Edward Zukowski for his slogan, "Enter a stranger, become a neighbor."

Four other participants won honorable mention. They are Matt Desantis, Ruth Nole, Michael Szewczyk and Amanda Vacchio.
