HAZLET — Police arrested two individuals last week in connection with an Oct. 3 break-in at Tony’s Tattoo Shop located on Route 36.

According to Detective Sgt. Howard Nuss, Michael Stanislawczyk, 21, and Jessica Giratore, 18, both of Brick, were charged with burglary, theft and conspiracy.

Giratore was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and released on her own recognizance.

Stanislawczyk was arrested on Thursday, Nov. 2, and is currently being held in the Ocean County jail.

Police apprehended the suspects after they received an anonymous tip from an informant.

The same informant recently helped police in investigating the beating of a gas station attendant at J&R Sunoco on Route 36, in which three men were arrested.

Nuss refused further comment but did say the events are unrelated.

The tattoo parlor robbery involved the theft of the shop’s tattoo equipment and piercing needles, plus jewelry valued at more than $500.

According to police, Stanislawczyk allegedly entered the shop through a side entrance around 8 p.m. Oct. 3 and hid in the shop’s rafters for approximately five hours until the store closed at approximately 1 a.m.

"Before the shop closed, Stanislawczyk hid on the top of some rafters in the shop so he had locked himself in when they had closed," said Nuss.

Police said that Stanislawczyk and Giratore communicated throughout the night via walkie-talkies and that Giratore drove the getaway car.
