Hazlet children may sign up for art, karate, music

Hazlet Recreation Commission is accepting registrations for karate lessons for children ages 4-12. The 10 lessons will take place at Amato’s Studio, Palmer Avenue, Hazlet. Classes begin Nov. 25 and will be held on Mondays from 4-4:45 p.m. and Saturdays from 10-10:45 a.m. The cost is $30; a required uniform may be purchased at Amato’s for $25 ($40 value). A $5 late fee will be charged for registrations received after Nov. 22.

Registration is now open for acrylic art classes for children age 7 and older. The five lessons begin Dec. 4 and will be held Mondays from 3:30-5 p.m. The cost is $30, and students must provide tubes of red, yellow, blue, black, and white acrylic paint; an 11-by-14-inch or 9-by-12-inch canvas board; and acrylic brushes. A $5 late fee will be charged for registrations taken after Dec. 1.

Registration is also being taken for basic piano or guitar lessons for children ages 6-17. Classes begin Jan. 13 and will be held Saturdays from 9-10 a.m. (piano) or 10-11 a.m. (guitar). The cost is $25; a $5 fee is charged for registrations taken after Jan. 12.

The above courses will be held at the James J. Cullen Center, Veterans Memorial Park, Union Avenue, Hazlet.
