S.B. police take priority over elected officials

It has come to my attention that the police contract will expire at the end of the current year. I would hope that Mayor Debra Johnson and the Township Council would conclude the negotiations with the police union before they vote themselves a raise as they did last year. Morale in the Police Department can only be compromised by this continual stalemate. The role of the police and, in fact, all public employees is certainly more important to me as a resident than the role of the elected officials of the township. I urge the township government to conduct around-the-clock negotiations to settle the contract before it expires.
