Only in Sayreville. Where else would something like this happen? Today you read in the newspapers how developers are either building or fixing up parks, building soccer fields or else just donating good old open space. But not in Sayreville.
As a tradeoff for allowing a builder to put up 100 four-bedroom homes, the town is getting a connector road joining two of its busiest roads, so we’ll have a highway running through town. Maybe the Planning Board should have asked the builder to donate the approximately $2.5 million it will take to build this road and put it toward building an addition on the school that all the children from these new homes will attend.
Since we all know how overcrowded our schools are already, I think its time for some new board members; the ones who serve now seem to have lost their common sense and don’t seem to have the best interests of all the people of this town in mind.
This was once a nice, quiet town.
