George Lynn Sr., 83

   ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — George Dennis Lynn Sr. died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, in St. Petersburg. He was 83.

   Born in Shadyside, N.J., he was a former resident of Manville. He moved to St. Petersburg in 1966 from Mountain Home Air Force Base, Idaho.
   He served in the U.S. Air Force for 26 years before retiring as a lieutenant colonel.
   He was a C46 Pilot in the Air Force and flew the Hump in the India-Burma-Chinese Theater and was a recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal.
   He was assigned to the U.S. Embassy in Munich, Germany in 1952; he was a professor of Air Science at the University of North Carolina from 1955-58 and from 1959-66, he was a KC97 refueling tanker pilot at Mountain Home AFB in Idaho.
   He was a member of the Retired Officers’ Association and a graduate of Bucknell University.
   Mr. Lynn was of the Russian Orthodox faith
   Surviving are two sons, George Jr. of St. Petersburg and Dale R. of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Diane Lynn Phillips of Auburn, Calif.; two brothers, Keith of Manville and Joseph of Toms River; two sisters, Sonja Cantarelli of Somerville and Mary Kozden of Manville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
   Arrangements were by Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home and Cremation Tribute Center-Ninth Street Chapel in St. Petersburg.
   Burial was in Arlington National Cemetery.
