The First Presbyterian Church of Englishtown will hold a Blue Christmas Memorial Service for those who have experienced a loss. The service is an opportunity to seek God’s healing grace in the solace of the Christian community, according to organizers. Freehold man named to

ART board of directors

Dick Miller of Freehold, executive producer and host of New Jersey Radio Magazine, has been named to the board of directors of the Asbury Park Repertory Theater (ART), Asbury Park.

"I am looking forward to having Dick join ART’s board," said Sylvia Allen, board president. "He brings with him incredible experience and expertise in the entertainment and tourism industry."

Miller’s New Jersey Radio Magazine, a one-hour program syndicated to radio stations throughout New Jersey, highlights local events, attractions, businesses and restaurants.

Earlier this year, Miller and his wife Deborah received the Governor’s 2000 Pinnacle Award for Excellence for promoting New Jersey tourism. The Pinnacle Award is presented at the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism.

ART, a nonprofit organization, is dedicated to revitalizing the arts in Asbury Park.

Kateri to host ceremony

for New Year’s Eve

Kateri Environmental Center, Wickatunk section of Marlboro, will host a special New Year’s Eve event from 7-8:30 p.m. Dec. 31. In a stream-side ritual based on a tradition from Asia, participants will float their troubles and cares down the Tan Vat Brook as a way of preparing for the coming year. Dress for the outdoors. trip to ‘Disney on Ice’

Freehold Township Parks and Recreation will sponsor a trip to see "Disney on Ice: Beauty and the Beast" Feb. 3 at the Sovereign Bank Arena, Trenton. The bus will leave Liberty Oak Park at 9 a.m. for the 11 a.m. show, and will return immediately after the performance. The cost is $30 per person and includes tickets and charter bus transportation. CentraState receives

laboratory accreditation

CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township, has announced that it has been awarded accreditation by the Commission on Laboratory Accreditation of the College of American Pathologists based on the results of a recent on-site inspection. The medical center is now one of more than 6,000 CAP-accredited laboratories nationwide, according to a news release.

The College of American Pathologists is a medical society serving nearly 1,600 physician members and the laboratory community throughout the world.

"CAP accreditation is a national recognition of the excellence of services being provided by our laboratory," said Dehlia Wardlow, CentraState’s director of laboratories.

Manalapan Recreation

has job openings

Manalapan Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for recreation supervisors. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be available to work on nights and weekends. A background in recreation is preferred but not necessary. The hourly rate begins at $7 per hour.

The recreation department is also accepting applications for gymnastics counselors. Applicants must be a freshman in high school or older. Gymnastics experience is preferred but not required. The gymnastics program runs from January through March on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons.

Volunteers sought for

advisory committee

Marlboro Mayor Matthew Scannapieco is seeking volunteers for the newly created Open Space and Farmland Preservation Advisory Committee created by a council ordinance. Transportation group

forming in Marlboro

The Marlboro Township Council is in the process of creating an ad hoc committee on regional transportation issues. The committee needs volunteers who are willing to work in concert with members from other municipalities. Issues to be explored include highway safety, local transportation, long-distance commuting, bus shelters, parking, buses, federal and state grants, and pedestrian safety zones. Howell agency seeks

items for needy families

Howell Youth and Family Counseling Services is collecting food, new gifts, used clothes, toys and household articles for its annual holiday giveaway.

Items may be brought to the trailers by the Howell Recreation building at the municipal complex, 251 Preventorium Road, through Dec. 8, Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Also needed are individuals and organizations to participate in the "Adopt A Family" program, which provides a needy family with food for Thanksgiving, and food and gifts for the Christmas and Hanukkah holidays.
