Effort in Freehold schools aimed at keeping youths drug-free

The Freehold Community Alliance to Prevent Alcoholism and Drug Abuse participated with the Freehold Township and Freehold Borough schools to promote Red Ribbon Week.

The Alliance provided teachers and staff with red ribbons to wear from Oct. 23-31 to symbolize a commitment to strive for a drug-free youth community.

The Alliance presented hall banners to the Eisenhower and Barkalow intermediate schools. The banners stated, "Our Schools Are 2 Cool to Do Drugs." Students also received pencils reinforcing the message that "Drug Free Is the Way to Be."

The Alliance extends its thanks to all the teachers, staff, parents and students who participated in sending the message that through educational awareness and fun activities we will continue to spread the word that "staying healthy means staying drug-free."

The Freehold Community Alliance is part of a statewide program of municipal alliances, all aimed at the prevention of alcoholism and drug abuse. Members represent administrative, business, civic, social and community segments of Freehold Township and Freehold Borough. For information on these or other programs, call (732) 409-6260.
