Red Bank Catholic senior Mark Elliott has been named an "Outstanding Participant" in the 2001 National Achievement Scholarship Program. The program, founded in 1964, was established to honor black American high school students.
As an Outstanding Participant, Elliott placed among the top 5 percent of more than 110,000 black Americans in the program. He will receive a Letter of Commendation from Red Bank Catholic and the National Merit Scholarship Corporation.
Elliott is the son of Everett and Helen Elliott, Long Branch. He is a member of Red Bank Catholic’s varsity football and track teams, as well as the Pro-Life and African-American Clubs. As a "Casey Ambassador," he gives tours to prospective students, alumni and other school visitors.
He has appeared in Who’s Who Among American High School Students for the past two years.
