NCJW annual brunch slated for Jan. 7

The National Council of Jewish Women (NCJW) Middlesex County Section will hold its annual brunch Jan. 7, 11 a.m. Donation is $5. The brunch will be at the atrium of Johnson & Johnson, 1 Johnson & Johnson Plaza, New Brunswick.

The group will present the Hannah G. Solomon Award to Jacquelyn Marich and Shirley Ellison for their efforts with Women Aware, a battered women’s resource program in Middlesex County.

Featured speaker will be the honorable Karen Burstein, former state senator and family court judge.

Space still available for

S.B. children’s programs

South Brunswick Department of Recreation & Community Affairs still has openings for two winter programs which begin Jan. 16. Registration is still open for Creative Learning, a 2-hour program for pre-K ("Yippie I’m 3" and "Stepping Stones"); and Bright Starts, a 45-minute parent/child programs.

Programs are held at the South Brunswick Community Center, Woodlot Park, New Road (by Kendall Park). Registration is open to all South Brunswick residents; nonresidents may register two days before programs begin, space permitting.

Miller Memorial Church announces events

Miller Memorial Presbyterian Sunday school will hold its Christmas Celebration Dec. 16, beginning at 4 p.m. and ending at 6 p.m. with a visit from Santa.

The Youth Group will lead worship Dec. 17 at 11 a.m.; the Sunday school and choir will present a Christmas pageant during the service.

The Church Elders meet Dec. 19, 7 p.m.; and a worship team will present a service of songs and Communion at Applegarth Care Center, Monroe, Dec. 20 at 10 a.m.

Miller Memorial Church is at the corner of Ridge and New Roads, Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick.

Episcopal church slates Christmas schedule

St. Barnabas Episcopal Church will hold Christmas communion services Dec. 24 at 5:30 and 10:30 p.m., and Dec. 25 at 10 a.m. All services will include carols and preaching by the Rev. Francis A. Hubbard. The Christmas eve services will include the singing of "Silent Night" by candlelight after communion.

The church’s regular Sunday services are 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., including Christmas eve. The church’s Christmas pageant will be Dec. 31 at 10:30 a.m.
