Let’s entice businesses, not thwart efforts

This letter is to all who are in a position to have New York Fast Ferry come to our town.

If this company needs to park the boat on the weekday evenings from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m., it seems like a small request. There is not that much activity at the waterfront during those hours and the location only blocks a small view of Cliffwood. Also the boat is beautiful and well-kept as we all experienced on our promotional boat ride this summer. It might be an attraction that will spark people’s interest.

Yes, we have a wonderful town; however, we are not so special that a company will continue to bend over backward and receive no concessions at all. We should be enticing businesses to come here, not thwarting their efforts.

Clearly popular opinion, as seen at the public meeting, is overwhelmingly positive. However, you cannot please all the people all the time. Well, that’s just the nature of the beast.

Let’s try new things to move the town forward.
