The Cpl. Philip A. Reynolds Detach-ment Marine Corps League recently awarded two $700 scholarships for community service. The recipients are Jennifer Forman and Michael R. Pascarella, both of Freehold.
Jennifer Forman has overcome a serious illness to complete her high school programs in an outstanding manner, according to a news release. She coordinated the building of a ramp for the handicapped at the Howell Police Department. She also worked in the ADAPT program to teach children to avoid drug use, and initiated activities to strengthen children’s self-esteem. In addition, Jennifer assisted hospital patients while she was undergoing her own treatments. She is a student at Seton Hall University, South Orange.
Michael Pascarella has worked as a volunteer in the radiology department at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He coordinated two food drives and a fund-raising walk for breast cancer. He has been active in peer tutoring in high school and has coached the mentally handicapped in soccer and tennis. He attends Villanova University, Villanova, Pa.
