Roosevelt Arts Project
presents mezzo-soprano
The Roosevelt Arts Project will present the young mezzo-soprano Cheri Rose Katz in a program of operatic arias, musical comedy and songs at 8 p.m. Jan. 6 at Roosevelt Borough Hall, Route 571.
The young mezzo, who has performed around the United States and in Europe, has been recognized as possessing a uniquely rich and powerful voice.
A graduate of Hightstown High School and now a resident of New York City, Katz made her debut at the Teatro da Fontana in Italy in the summer of 1998, and most recently appeared in Mascagni’s little-known opera Zanetto with the New Jersey Association of Verismo Opera. She has performed with Central City Opera, Sarasota Opera, DiCapo Opera, and Opera in the Hamptons. She will be accompanied by pianist Alan Mallach.
The Roosevelt Arts Project has been presenting artistic and cultural events in Roosevelt and its vicinity since 1987. Upcoming programs in this year’s Arts Project series include the Ellarslie Trio on Feb. 3, an evening of poetry on March 4, and the return of the Roosevelt String Band on April 27-28. A voluntary contribution of $6, or $4 for students and senior citizens, is requested.
