Democrats assume control of Milltown Borough Council

MILLTOWN — The Democratic Party has gained control of the Borough Council, with councilmen Kevin Bosworth and Joseph Cruz each being sworn in to three-year terms.

The reappointment of Councilman Bosworth and new appointment of Councilman Cruz during Monday’s reorganization meeting resulted in the Democratic Party’s holding four of the six council seats.

Until now, the council had an even number of Democrats and Republicans, with Republican Mayor Gloria Bradford holding the tie-breaking vote.

The two Republican seats will continue to be filled by Councilman Tom Buck and Councilman Gary Walters.

Democratic Councilman Gerard Cappella will take over as council president, succeeding Republican Councilman Sean Leary.

Councilman Cruz was elected to fill Leary’s spot on the council during the November elections.
